The Best Red lipsticks for Brown Girls!
Hey Y'all, So this post is for my Brown Skin Girls... Ha! But for real though. As a brown girl myself, I sometimes have such a hard time finding lipsticks, glosses, and mattes. It’s so frustrating because I want the color to:
Stay on/ Last
Match my personality
Not make me look a plum fool
In the last few years, I recently come to terms with the color Red. It was so hard when I was young to find a red that wasn’t the typical red that everyone used. Now that I know a little pinch about makeup, I finally found shades that work with my personality and skin tone. People ask me all the time about my lipstick and now I can finally share what I use. In this post, I will be giving you the scoop about all the red lipsticks I have that make me feel super confident. I want to help all my Brown girls out and other people who just want a bomb lipstick. I’m so excited to share this with y'all.
*I also want to point out that I tend to mix my lipstick to create different hues of reds.*
For example, in this picture I used Colour Pop on top of my lipliner and Rimmel in the middle to give it a POP!

Avenue ultra matte lip by Colour Pop
Ugh, I love this color so much. It’s the perfect Red Lip moment! It’s so soft but yet so bold in color. Most of all it looks so good on brown skin and it’s 7 bucks you literally can’t beat that.
2. Rimmel Lasting finish by Kate Moss color: 111
This lipstick hold a special place in my heart! When I was in color guard I used this lipstick and till this day I still use it. I love using this lipstick to do a ombre red lip. It’s perfect for filling in and it makes my lips so soft. In a way I feel that the ingredents have some sort of moisturizing aspect to it. It’s the perfect bright red for me! I believe they still have this in stores but I know on Rimmel.com they have another color similar to it as well.
3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Color: Beso
This red Matte lipstick is top 2 but not 2! This was a game changer for me. I was introduced to this bad boi by my friend Lauren and It changed my views on red lips. I love this matte lip! I drys so quickly, so you won’t have to wait forever and a day to finally put your lips together. It’s a little pricy, but it’s worth it and it last quite a while. Trust, It’s worth it!!
Of course I had to put the Holy Grail of Brown Girl approved reds on this list! I feel like every girl managed to get their hands on this lipstick. It kind of was the first trusted red for the girls (My opinion). I’m still in love with my girl Ruby. It’s long wearing, intense color, and a blue red!
5. Juvia’s Place Matte Liquid Lipstick Color: LULU
Lulu is my girl, she’s my everything. This lipstick is so velvety and just all around perfect! I know so people who have a hard time with matte lipsticks and I can assure you it’s not the usual matte that drys your lips like the dessert. The number 1 thought that comes into my head about this lip formal and wear is COMFORTABLE! Lulu glides on your lips. She’s worth 12 dollars!
